The time window is very small, but still easily reproducable. If you've done the glitch correctly you should notice the things described under " What it does ". Tip: If you are having trouble getting NPCs to walk towards the screen load line of their own volition you can walk close to them and speak to them, causing them to face you and change the direction they are walking.
This glitch is also able to be pulled off using bombs by placing a bomb in the correct spot on one side of a camera transition line, quickly going across the line, and dashing back and ramming into the bomb. You need to get as close to the edge of the screen as you can while still being able to use your sword.
Once you are, drop a bomb, cross through the bomb to the other side, and dash back. If done correctly the glitch should take effect. It seems some screens take longer to transition and the bomb blows up and some don't seem to work in general. Testing is the only way to tell if you can do it in an area.
See video below. The cutscene at the entrance will freeze halfway through if the glitch is in FULL effect. This will unfreeze the NPCs while keeping the monsters frozen. This will allow cutscenes like the ones in the temple entrances will play correctly.

Also if you're not supposed to ask on these boards I apologize, but does anyone have a game save around that point right before the final dungeon or even right before the final boss? Thanks, -Dan. Just saying. Tried running the game with Accurate RSX reservation access turned on. Still crashes upon entering a new area after playing for a while. This was fixed by , makes sense the graphics are fixed as well. Not sure if this is the same issue but I just had the game crash when attempting to start game.
There are no actual emulator crashes listed here, those were fixed years ago. What I think most people are talking about here is that the game is freezing logical desync and the game simulation stops. The emulator has not crashed.
Those red messages in the log window are not crashes, crashes are purple in color and stop the game for you without action from the user. Red text means something unexpected happened but that is normal behavior that happens on a real PS3 as well. While attempting to open a file that does not exist is not good, this is expected behavior for the OS to refuse to open something which is not there. Of course people will need to validate that their installs are valid, but it is also possible that the missing files were deleted by the game developer before distribution.
Well, the approach taken to solve the situation will be drastically different, especially when it comes to the amount of time it will take. In the meantime I will change the title to reflect this situation, but I would advice that someone attach a desktop recording of the issue because the logs seem to not say much. On a related note: please attach your TTY. I am not actively looking into this issue, but from some logs here I can see the game writing things to the TTY console and seems to have failed some kind of internal check and tried to kill itself, but this is only from a quick glance.
I am willing to add to the bounty. From your stand point, how much would it take for you to take a good look at this? I know its not a demon souls or persona game but this is software that cannot be played or was ever issued on another platform. Let me know. Thanks for the offer, but I would prefer if someone else could look at this. If anyone is willing to give it a go, feel free to contact the dev channel on our discord, you can get some help to get started debugging.
Druff 10 years ago 4. Froze on me last night as when I left the first dungeon and was loading the overworld. Caution - You are approaching the periphery shield of Vortex Four. It freezes non-stop Usually it's whenever you exit a building. Froodjakle 10 years ago 6. Not feeling a lot of sympathy on that one. Usually people make an attempt to figure out how the data is saved within the first half hour of gameplay. I know I looked for a save function within the first five to ten minutes.
CGoblins 10 years ago 8. Mine froze twice On the way to Platinuming the game. If you haven't manually saved in the first hour and a half of your game then that is entirely foolish and auto saving is more of a hassle in my opinion. I'll save when I want to save, thanks. In Dragon Age it causes lag and there is a period where you have to wait for it to do it and it's entirely too often.
